MIDDLETON, MA – November 28, 2011 – Ferncroft Country Club collected 400 pounds of turkey to donate to less fortunate families in the area with its recent Turkey Shoot tournament and Guest Day. Participating golfers contributed frozen turkeys that Ferncroft CC gave to the Middleton Food Pantry.

David Swales, managing director of Affinity Management (www.affinitymanagement.com), which owns and operates Ferncroft CC, said, “Many of us take it for granted that we can stuff ourselves with a terrific meal, but many are less fortunate this Thanksgiving and could use a helping hand. I am terribly proud that our members and guests demonstrated such generosity so a few of our neighbors could have a more enjoyable holiday.”

Ferncroft CC members donated birds at the annual Turkey Shoot on November 20th. Members and guests alike contributed turkeys on the Help Us Help the Needy Guest Day on November 22nd.

The Middleton Food Pantry opened in 2010 in the Town Council of Aging building and feeds 67 families. A resident started the pantry after noticing an overwhelming need for one in the community. It is open on Fridays between 1-3 pm with proof of Middleton residency required.

Known for its Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed championship golf course that hosted the LPGA Boston Five Classic from 1980-90, Ferncroft CC is a full-service club with outstanding food, many social and children’s activities, tennis courts, swimming pool, and fitness center. Set on an idyllic 287 acres, Ferncroft is conveniently located just nineteen miles north of downtown Boston where Route 1 meets I-95 on the North Shore.
