This is our most popular event. The 2017 sign-up criteria is as follows:

  • Sign-up for all Initiated and Annual Members for this event will commence on May 1, 2017. The guest name and GHIN # must be included at signup.
  • All 2017 Initiated and Initiated Associate Members signed-up as of July 1st, 2017 will be contacted and asked to confirm their participation. All confirming will have their account charged $300 toward the entry fee. Those who do not confirm will be removed from the sign-up list. Entry fee balance will be charged the day of the event.
  • All signed-up Annual Members as of July 1st, 2017 will be contacted in the order of their prior years Invitational participation and if necessary by their sign-up date toward acquiring a total of 60 teams. All confirmed for participation in this event will have their account charged $300 toward the entry fee with balance charged the day of the event.
  • In the event of over-subscription, the order of selection will be Initiated, Initiated Associate and Annual. Selection of Annual Members will be based first on prior participation and then if necessary, sign-up date.
  • On or about July 1st The Invitational becomes a tournament open to members on first come, first served basis.

Remember, this tournament requires the guest to have a current Handicap Index, otherwise the guest will not be allowed to play.

The Ferncroft Invitational
“Premier Event at Ferncroft"

When: Friday & Saturday, July 14th & 15th

Format: Round Robin 9-hole matches; -1, 0, +1; Max +/- 6 points/match.

Teams: Two Man; Member – Guest.

Tees: Blue and white based on combined handicap.

Flights: Ten flights of six teams based on combined handicap.

Handicaps: 80% of July 1st course handicap. Teams with more than 8 shot course handicap differential will be adjusted with an additional 10% handicap adjustment per USGA recommendations. Handicaps of Players competing from different tees shall be further adjusted in accordance with the guidelines for competitive play as currently established and adopted under Section 3-5 of the USGA Handicap System. All handicaps are subject to review by Handicap Committee.

Field: 60 teams

Posting: “T” Scores will be posted by the Pro Shop.

Sign-up: Sign-up for ALL Members for this event will commence on May 1, 2017 and will end May 15th. The guest name and GHIN # must be included at signup.

Deadline: May 15th. Member accounts will be charged a non-refundable amount of $300 toward the entry fee on June 1st to secure a position.

Places: Prize to overall playoff winner, 1st and 2nd place flight winners and all teams in the overall playoff winner’s flight.

Ties: Ties for first and second place within a flight will be broken by the head-to-head performance of the teams involved. If a tie still exists a sudden death playoff will take place beginning on Hole #1 with appropriate strokes given as they fall on the card.

Entry Fee: $TBD/Team; Reduced Guest Fee for Optional Practice Round.

Other: Additional details shall be included in the Ferncroft Invitational Booklet that will be forwarded electronically, prior to the first day of the Tournament.

Thursday, July 13:

  • 12:00 – 2:00 pm Optional Practice Round (Reduced Guest Fee)
  • 5:30 - 6:30 pm Appetizers
  • 6:30 - ?? Clam Bake, registration, skill contests, flight pool collections.

Friday, July 14:

  • 6:30 – 7:45 am Full breakfast with Omelet Stations.
  • 8:00 – 12:45 pm Shotgun start – first 2 matches.
  • 12:45 – 2:00 pm Lunch
  • 2:00 – 4:30 pm Shotgun for 3rd match .
  • 5:30 – 6:30 pm Sushi and Appetizers.
  • 6:30 – 7:30 pm Dinner and Entertainment.

Saturday, July 15:

  • 6:30 – 7:45 am Build-your-own Breakfast Bar.
  • 8:00 am Shotgun start, fifth and sixth nine-hole matches.
  • 12:30 pm Lunch, awards and prizes.
  • 1:30 pm Flight Playoff

At the conclusion of the luncheon, on the 18th fairway the 10 flight pool winners will gather about 125 yards out and play alternate shot to the 18th hole. In other words, only one player plays the first shot and other player must play the second shot. At the completion of 2 shots, the team that is closest to the hole will be the overall champion.

In the event more than 1 team holes out in 2 shots, the teams that tied will playoff again, however, the players MUST switch roles.

The entire field is strongly encouraged to get greenside and cheer on their flight champion, as the winning team’s flight will all share in the prize pool.
