Ferncroft CC has an unusually spacious practice area relative to other premier Boston area private clubs. In 2007 our driving range was expanded 40 yards so that golfers may hit any club, including driver. At the same time a 40,000 square foot grass hitting-surface was constructed and a synthetic turf tee was built on top of the newly-graded area. The range is conveniently located near the pro shop and cart staging area.
Also in 2007 the Club converted the former first green complex of our par three course to become a short game area, primarily for shots of 30-40 yards. The former ninth green of the executive course remains as a dedicated chipping green. Both of these new practice areas are immediately adjacent to the practice tee. The practice putting green remains near the first tee.
The remaining seven holes of the executive par three-course are also an excellent place to work on one’s game.
As a result of these recent renovations, Ferncroft CC’s practice facilities have been regarded among the best in the Boston area.
